Monday, April 19, 2010 –
Introduce Ch. 22 - Spread of Islam
Begin reading and discussing pp. 330-332
Take power notes regarding the following subtopics:
What is Islam? Who built the Kabah? Muhammad and his conerns Muhammad’s revelation
Muhammad’s teachings Why rich leaders felt threatened? Migration to Medina
Homework: Finish reading pp. 330-332, if necessary and finish above power notes
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 –
Review homework
Read and discuss pp. 332-336 and begin power notes for the following topics:
Important events under Muhammad’s leadership What is the Quran? The five pillars of faith
Rewards for following the Quran
Homework: Finish power notes, if necessary
Wednesday, April 21, 2010 –
Review homework
Begin reading Scholastic News Article: The Spread of Islam and highlight and/or underline subtopics and details
Homework: Define- Kabah, pilgrim, revelation, Anno Hijrah, pillars of faith, mosque, iman, zakah, hajj, Ramadan
Thursday, April 22, 2010 –
Finish reading and highlighting article
Homework: Complete question handout –due Monday
Friday, April 23, 2010 – No Class- due to Institute Day
Homework: finish questions if not done. They are due on Monday
